Dimensions announces new conference - 'Lost in transition?'

23/11/2006

Dimensions is pleased to announce it's first ever conference: 'Lost in transition? - How to find your way through'.

The conference follows the great success of our transitions service, which has successfully supported several young people with a learning difficulty at transition throughout the UK.

Kate Jackson, transitions service development manager at Dimensions, says: "The need for effective support for young disabled adults during transition has been highlighted again and again as a key issue by parents, professionals and government departments. Yet very little progress has been met with a lack of appropriate services for young people moving into adulthood.

Our transitions service has been developed in consultation with young people and their families. Individual young person centred services work well. Our current services reflect this and enable young people to lead the lives they want.

So we want to share our knowledge and welcome the attendance of parents, professionals and other providers to help find their way through the Transition process."

The conference will include a host of workshops and a question time style debate with key players from the transitions sector. Delegates will also have the opportunity to be the first to pick up our research report and best practice guide.

The conference will be held on 25th April 2007 at the Birmingham Hippodrome. If you are interested in attending, please contact us Icon: Email address to join our mailing list.
