Alain Hendrich

Alain joined Dimensions in the summer of 2003. Now an independent member of the Board, Alain also chairs the Group Remuneration and Nominations Committee.

His initial career was with British Telecom where he held various operational and people management roles including International Networks Total Quality Programme Manager and Area Board Member with International Operator Services. More recently, Alain has a varied portfolio of roles including Non Executive Director of an NHS Hospital Trust and an international consultant on Organisation Development, Project Management and Human Resources. He also acts as an independent chair of selection panels, for example for junior doctors and for the Judicial Appointments Commission.

Alain is married to Lisa - an illustrator and artist. They live in Guildford and have two grown up children. They get away from it all on their canal narrow boat or at their family home in the north of France.

Alan has been a Director of Dimensions since 2002. He is 60 years old, married with three grown-up children and two grand-children (to date). He currently lives in South Cheshire but was born in Hampshire and have lived in Hampshire and Berkshire for over 30 years.

He joined the beard of Dimensions when he took early retirement. He initially qualified as a Certified Accountant but spent most of his working life in general management, including many years as Company Secretary of a major British PLC. He is currently an independent member of the Board and chair the Audit Committee.

He has two other volunteer charity appointments and his other interests include walking and trying to trace my family history.

Appointed to the Board in 2003, Barrie is a family man with two sons (one having ASD and learning disabilities) who has spent most of his adult life living and working in West Yorkshire.

Having spent 38 years working in local government and retiring on health grounds in 1992, he has been involved as a parent carer at local, regional and national levels in matters relating to disability and learning disability in particular.

Barrie was a member of the Joint Group for Learning Disabilities and chairman of the Joint Group of Service Users or Carers within the local health/social services joint planning process, and is a member of the Wakefield Learning Disability Partnership Board which succeeded those Joint Groups.

In 1991, together with a friend, Barrie established Horticare, a local charitable company which provides training in a horticultural setting for adults who have learning disabilities. He was a Company Secretary and a Secretary to the Board of Trustees from 1991 to 2003 and is still a Trustee.

John Larkin has been a board member with Dimensions and its subsidiaries since 1999 and is also a member of the group audit committee. He is also a board representative at the Everybody Counts core group and on the East Midlands Regional Advisory Forum.

John is a Barrister of the Middle Temple in London and a Master of Law of Queen's College in Cambridge. He has substantial experience of working in commerce and industry including financial services and the construction industry. He has developed a portfolio career with a wide range of different responsibilities and interests in diversified activities. These span the public and voluntary sectors, including the NHS and several national charities, and comprise of a number of directorships, treasurerships and other roles in care-based and/or health-related organisations.

Nigel Pink
Nigel joined Dimensions as a board member in 2003. At the time he was working for a mental health charity as a Director of Operations. He trained as a teacher and taught in a special needs school before working with people with long term mental health problems as a care manager.

He is also a shepherd and keeps his own flock of sheep, some of which help with wildlife conservation by grazing a nature reserve – they are very willing volunteers!

Nigel has recently left his job and is re-training as Horticultural Therapist He hopes to help people with mental health problems or a learning difficulty to develop an interest in gardening.

He has recently become the chair of the Southern Operating Committee.

Paul W. Thompson
Paul is a senior partner in a credit management company employing over 65 staff and is Managing Director of a management consultancy company involved in business strategic planning. He has over 20 years corporate management experience, managing a team on 190 staff . He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors & Chartered Institute of Management.

Paul holds a Master of Business Administration degree of the Ivy League College, Henley Management Centre. He is a top management speaker and presenter for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Paul has participated in management debates in the Daily Telegraph as well as in radio interviews. He is currently in the final stage of his PhD.

He is married to Evreth, and has three children, one of which has special needs. His hobbies as running, cooking, and attending his local community Church, of which he is a very active member.
